The International Asociation for Religious Freedom (IARF) stelt zich ten doel
een ontmoetingsplaats te zijn voor allen die zich verbonden weten met het streven naar vrijheid van godsdienst en levensovertuiging en het bevorderen van de mensenrechten op dit gebied.

De International Council (het IARF Hoofdbestuur) heeft twee nieuwe groepen als lid-groepering opgenomen:
– Het Sony College in India (https://sonycomputer.co.in) en
– The Pagan Federation International (https://paganfederation.org).
Wij ontvingen een oproep van het internationale Hoofdbestuur voor deelname aan werkgroepen om het internationale werk vorm te geven. U bent van harte uitgenodigd om – zonder lange reizen en kosten temaken – toch internationaal samen te werken.

The UN General-Assembly, in its resolution 72/130, declared 16 May the International Day of Living Together in Peace, as a means of regularly mobilizing the efforts of the international community to promote peace, tolerance, inclusion, understanding and solidarity.

Ons lid Peter le Poole had een overleg tussen Jezidis en Buitenlandse Zaken aangevraagd, en dat vond op 21 januari j.l. plaats. Peter was daar zelf bij namens de IARF. Hij stuurt het volgende bericht:
Sit-in demonstation Yezidis in The Hague because of recent Dutch policy change
Young Yezidis are holding this month a sit-in demonstration in front van the The Hague Central train station to express their concerns about a recent change in the Dutch policy under which the government considers it now safe for Yezidis, and other minority groups, to return to Iraq, either to the city of Sinjar and surroundings, or to camps in the Kurdish Autonomous Region. As a result of this policy change many requests for asylum by Yezidis have been rejected in the past 1,5 years. Yezidis believe that since the genocide of 2014 they cannot safely live in Iraq due to continuing discrimination and hate speech against them by other groups in the population, lacking law and order, and impunity. Recent developments in Iraq have increased their concerns. In Germany Yezidis face similar problems. Please support Yezidis writing to your member of parliament, donating to Yezidi organisations or encouraging them by passing by at their sit-in demonstration in The Hague.
